Hossein defends his thesis… and innovation !

Big news on the membrane process engineering front! On November 26, Hossein Gholamian will present his PhD thesis on the interactions between milk proteins’ properties and filtration performance. This project has led to some exciting discoveries, which are now being patented.

On Tuesday 26 November, Hossein Gholamian will present his thesis entitled ‘Influence of the milk serum phase (minerals and serum proteins) on the compressibility, rheological behavior and structural stability of casein micelles and on the performance of milk filtration’. This work, supervised by Geneviève Gésan-Guiziou and Maksym Loginov and funded by the INRAE’s TRANSFORM division, led to a scientific stay with Laurent Bazinet at Laval University in Quebec. Hossein conducted pilot experiments there, which were also deployed on the Milk Platform with the support of Nadine Leconte and Fabienne Lambrouin, among others. This fruitful collaboration has led to the discovery of new results... which are currently being kept secret until a patent has been obtained!
