Milk: Driver of Development

The 5th “Milk: Driver of Development” Conference was a real success! It brought together nearly 150 people. The innovation fair was also very lively! It featured 17 booths showcasing projects, processing units, and various organizations. Congratulations to all the exhibitors and thank you for all the delicious products we got to taste! Among the participants, 35% worked in research, 30% in development, 25% in the private sector, and 10% were students and doctoral candidates. The conference’s goal of bringing together diverse stakeholders was thus fully achieved. 

In total, during the conference, 4 plenary sessions, 24 oral presentations, and 26 posters addressed the transformations taking place in the dairy sectors of West Africa (Session 1). They also provided an opportunity to assess the challenges of dairy development more broadly, with case studies presented from France, West Africa, North Africa, and Central Africa during the other sessions. The other three sessions focused on environmental issues (Session 2), economic dynamics (Session 3), and the diversity of milk and dairy products as well as their importance for human nutrition (Session 4). Congratulations to the presenters! 

Well done to Gabrielle Jagorel (STLO, ANR Veg&Lait Project) for her presentation. And a big thank you to our colleague Saïd Bouhallab (STLO Research Director) for his involvement in organizing LVD2026! See you in three years for the 6th edition of the Rencontres and new discussions!
