STLO at CBL2026 conference!

STLO at the 25th CBL conference in Aurillac!

The 25th conference of the Lactic Acid Bacteria Club was held in Aurillac from May 5 to 7, 2026. CIRM-BIA and the STLO’s MicroBio team presented three talks and one poster on their research topics: lactic acid bacteria and identification, plant fermentation, and kefir. Congratulations to Lucas Jolivet (CIRM-BIA) for winning the Best Poster Award!

The 25th conference of the Lactic Acid Bacteria Club was held in Aurillac from May 5 to 7, 2026. This conference, always a friendly gathering, provides an opportunity to share recent research on lactic acid bacteria—bacteria found everywhere (on plants, animals, in the soil, and even on and inside the human body)—which are widely used to produce fermented foods (cheese, wine, sauerkraut, kefir, etc.) or as probiotics. As always, the Microbio team and CIRM-BIA were present at this must-attend event and presented their latest research findings.

Congratulations to Lucas Jolivet (STLO Research Technician, CIRM-BIA), who received the Best Poster Award for his work titled « Study of Fermentation Practices in Water Kefir Production and Their Impact on Microbial Populations Using Culturomics and Metabarcoding Approaches »

And congratulations also to Damien Oliveira (INRAE, MICALIS), who won the award for best oral presentation for his work: "Probiotiques de nouvelles génération contre les parasitoses intestinales : une stratégie One Health prometteuse".

The research presented by CIRM-BIA and the MicroBio team:

  • Ewen Trebossen - doctorant. Oral presentation : Screening of 103 probiotic and proteolytic bacterial strains for lupin-based food applications targeting allergy modulation
  • Valentin Blin, Oral presentation: MALDIBANK (Multi-domain Open MALDI Spectra Archive for Identification of Microorganisms) to facilitate the identification of microbiotes associated to fermented foods
  • Victoria Chuat - Oral presentation:  Development of an innovative fermented quinoa product using lactic fermentation.
  • Lucas Jolivet - Poster : Study of Fermentation Practices in Water Kefir Production and Their Impact on Microbial Populations Using Culturomics and Metabarcoding Approaches
