STLO stand at International Agricultural Show

A look back at STLO's presence at the International Agricultural Show

For this 60th edition of the Salon International de l'Agriculture, two scientists from STLO and a project manager from Végépolys-Valley met visitors from 26 to 28 February 2024 on the INRAE stand.

Over the three days, visitors came to the stand to find out more about the European LOCALNUTLEG project and taste some of the nut- and pulse-based products developed as part of the project. It was also an opportunity to get their feedback on three of these innovative food products, rich in plant proteins.

Visitors were able to discuss the objectives of the LOCALNUTLEG European project, which aims to promote local Mediterranean nuts and pulses that have a legal registered trademark: Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) or an indigenous identity, through the development of innovative food products that reflect the cultures of the Mediterranean region.

An illustrated brochure listing the different varieties and their nutritional qualities in terms of proteins, nutrients and bioactive compounds was presented, along with an overview of the products produced, including chestnut couscous, pasta made from legume flours, almond paste, chickpea snacks, fermented products made from almonds and/or chickpeas and various traditional ready-to-eat dishes. The tastings gave rise to some rewarding and fruitful discussions.
