The STLO at the SFM conference

A look back at the STLO’s participation in the SFM congress

The 21st Congress of the SFM (French Society for Microbiology) took place from 7 to 9 October 2026 at the Lyon Convention Centre. A look back at the participation of STLO researchers in this annual scientific event...

The 21st SFM (Société Française de Microbiologie) Congress took place from 7 to 9 October 2026 at the centre des congrès, in Lyon. The theme for this year’s event was particularly inspiring: ‘At the confluence of microbial worlds’. It was an excellent opportunity for the STLO to present its latest findings through two talks and a poster.

  • Adèle Miteul, a post-doctoral researcher at STLO, presented her work carried out as part of the ANR BIFORES project during the Food Microbiology session: "dévelopment of a multi-objective fermented dairy fraction towards more biomimetic and safe infant formula".
  • Sergine Even presented the poster by Sarah Dupont, PhD student working on the same project, entitled " the fate of bacteria during digestion of infant formula enriched with fermented fractions using a dynamic in vitro gastro-intestinal model".
  • Gwenael Jan presented his research on the ability of the probiotic bacterium Propionibacterium freudenreichii to prevent food allergy in mice via the surface protein SlpB.

The conference also provided an opportunity to catch up with some former STLO members, notably Brenda LUZ, who has just been appointed Senior Lecturer at Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University.
